*This is a one (1) day event - Wednesday, April 3, 2019

Description:

MAPS (Making Action Plans) is a person‐centered planning process that brings together the significant people in a student's life to create a plan for an inclusive future in school, community, and life. MAPS can be used effectively at any age, but it is an especially effective decision‐making tool as students transition from public school to college and/or career.

Such person‐centered planning processes are grounded in a student’s hopes and dreams and family priorities. In the space of a few short hours, the MAPS process allows the student, family members, friends, and other caring, involved adults to explore who the student is, the hopes and fears of the student and family, and how each of the MAPS participants can be involved in realizing the dream.

This one-day train-the-trainer session for school teams will provide professional learning in the facilitation of a MAPS planning session. Providing this PCP experience within districts will help students, families, and educators identify a student’s post-school goals and determine the services needed to achieve those goals.

This session requires registration by teams of 2 to 4. It is recommended the team include a parent of a student with disabilities if possible.

The session will be offered six times over the 2018-2019 school year. Please register your team for the session most convenient. Each team will be provided with the MAPS Facilitator Workbook.
